Wine Ambassador
Position Summary
As a Wine Ambassador, you will be the face of Telaya Wine Co., providing exceptional service and creating welcoming, educational, and memorable experiences for our guests. Successful candidates are passionate about hospitality, enjoy connecting with people, and are eager to learn about wine.
Qualifications & Skills
Wine Knowledge
- Understanding of basic wine terminology, including varietals, dry versus sweet wines, tannins, acidity, and body.
- Ability to confidently describe wines, tasting notes, and food pairings to guests. (Training will be provided.)
- Genuine interest in wine and a willingness to continue learning through tastings, reading, and educational opportunities.
Customer Service & Sales
- Friendly, engaging, and attentive demeanor with a passion for hospitality.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with guests in a professional and approachable manner.
- Confidence in recommending wines, Wine Club memberships, merchandise, and other offerings.
- Ability to create memorable guest experiences while achieving sales goals.
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively with team members during busy shifts and special events.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct.
- Willingness to assist with a variety of tasks to support the tasting room and winery operations.
Technical Skills
- Basic computer literacy and comfort using technology.
- Experience with Point-of-Sale (POS) systems preferred.
- Ability to process transactions, open and close registers, and accurately enter customer information.
Physical Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including cases of wine and event supplies.
- General mobility required for serving guests, stocking inventory, cleaning, and event setup.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous hospitality, restaurant, retail, winery, or customer service experience.
- Prior wine industry experience is a plus.
- Wine certifications such as WSET Level 1 or 2, CMS Introductory Sommelier, or similar credentials are preferred but not required.
